The window is on the side of 31 Cumberland Street, built in 1888.
A round window like this one is sometimes called an oculus by architecture fans.
Following years of use as a lodging house, the building was restored to a single family home.
After much back and forth, the St. Botolph Area Architectural Conservation District officials approved these windows as a more contemporary addition to the side facing the Southwest Corridor Park which is a state property.
In case you haven't noticed, this section of that park was built over the orange line and was supposed to be a 12 lane highway until local resident protests stopped that scheme.
