The stone wall in the last clue is part of the island in the Public Garden lagoon.
In the early days of the park, that island was a peninsula, as shown in this stereograph image from the Boston Public Library collection.
From the Library of Congress collection, here are two images the island as a peninsula circa 1904.
In 1992 the Boston Globe reported a restoration and replanting of the island had been completed thanks to an anonymous donation to the Friends of the Public Garden.
