The gate in today's clue opens onto Lindall Court which was documented by the city with that name in 1874. It had been called Lindall Alley since 1868.
Frommers Irreverent Guide to Boston says that its nickname is Flower Lane. In the recent summer photo above, it was landscaped in cool greens with some white flowers.
The lovely plantings that change with the seasons are the work of a single homeowner who takes pride in, "Our alley" as they called it in an email to us, when they spotted the gate as a clue in the Beacon Hill Times.
Even in the cold months, the planters are filled with something beautiful.
