- The hand is on the West Canton Street Child sculpture in James Hayes Park.
- “In June, 1992, Hayes Park was rededicated and the original sculpture ‘West Canton Street Child’ by internationally-acclaimed sculptor and West Canton Street denizen Kahlil Gibran was installed in the circular center bed,” according to The Friends of Hayes Park.
- Public Art Boston writes, "The Child is a young girl out for a walk, carrying her jump rope in her right hand. The half-life-size bronze figure is the work of the sculptor, Kahlil Gibran. He gave the work to Hayes Park in 1993 to honor Anne and James Hayes, for whom the park is named.
- The artist was both a relative of, and was named for, the writer/philosopher, Kahlil Gibran."
