The Dining Car food truck made a great first impression on Penny. She went out to lunch with a friend who is also an exceptionally good chef. And, when a chef takes you to a food truck, you know it has to be good. Do you have a Dining Car favorite? Please share in the comments section below.
Name: The Dining Car
Truck Description: Bright orange with a sunburst pattern in yellow that serves as a placemat for their place-setting logo.
Chef Team/Partners: David Harnik who came out of the L'Espalier / Sel de la Terre team's catering company, Au Soleil. And, Naomi Close who was working as a private chef here in Boston after training and working in some top New York kitchens.
What’s on the Menu: A changing menu of carefully created and prepared sandwiches on freshly baked bread. We had...
Andalusian Pork sandwich– marinated pork tenderloin, grilled and served with Romesco sauce (made with roasted red pepper, tomatoes, ground almonds, and garlic and sherry vinegar)
Shoestring Potatoes with persillade (a French sauce made with butter, parsley, garlic, and lemon)
Drinks: Italian sodas and water.
They say: "Our ever-changing menu features meats and seasonal produce that represent our local agricultural community, with selections inspired by cuisines from all over the world."
Nice Touch: They bake focaccia on-site, continuously throughout the day, and were handing out samples to the hungry lunch-line the day we visited.
Regulars say: "Had the Caprese today, it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had! I will definitely be back." Tasha Clark. "Thanks for recommending the Pulled Pork Sandwich! DEE-LISH!" Kim Santo.
Order and Pick up routine: Step up to the "iPad Slinger" (Andrew was working the line here). Place your order, and soon someone will hand over your selection and make sure you have everything needed to enjoy your meal.
