Now that summer is here with all its sizzle and sass, we’ve found the perfect sparkler to greet July. Sommariva Prosecco Superiore is just what we need to celebrate the promise of what’s ahead.
A North End search for life’s staples: bread, cheese, and...wine, led us to one of our favorite shops– The Wine Bottega.
We asked owner Kerri Platt to help us find a special bottle that would be worthy of Our Sparkling Resolution– to “ring in” every month with a special bubbly. It didn’t have to be expensive, just very good.
We love prosecco, but as she pointed out, “many of them are lacking in personality and character.” Well, not this one!
Sommariva Prosecco Superiore is from one of our go-to importers, Kermit Lynch. Kerri told us, “It offers the soft, refreshing froth that makes Prosecco so approachable, but is still clean and bright, not sticky and sweet!” Great description!
Penny and I both got the clean, dry, refreshing aspects but also really enjoyed the wine’s lightness and range.
While it matches well with food, it’s also wonderful all by itself– especially suited for toasting the arrival of a spanking, new month.
As July heats up, we plan to have a bottle or two of prosecco at the ready for temperature control, Italian style. Salute!
Another in our collection of champagne glasses comes from Riedel. Here's the one in the photo.
