We were a bunch of food bloggers looking for a fun place for a meet-up and– thanks to the organizing of Rachel Blumenthal of Boston Food Bloggers– Tasty Burger seemed like a natural. While you can simply order from the outside window, it’s definitely the kind of inside place that works well with a crowd.
Penny and I had walked by this new spot in the Fenway last summer, on our way back from Marshall’s Fenway Farm Stand, but hadn’t yet stopped back. Most everyone in our group was also a first-timer, and couldn’t wait to try it.
Our server, Marina was great! She fielded all of our questions and with the help of her team, got us all set-up and served in no time.
While it was tough to settle on just one burger, it helped to realize there’d likely be some sharing– one of the huge advantages of lunching with guests. I ordered the Spicy Jalepeno medium-rare. It featured cheddar cheese sauce and roast jalapeno, that added just the right amount of heat.
Penny’s char-grilled half-pound Zum Zum hot dog was topped with l-o-t-s of grain mustard. It was no “Speed Dog,” but the homemade sauerkraut was very tasty.
The fries were crispy good. The pile of onion ring “strings” were “couldn’t stop” irresistible! And, the root beer made me feel like I was ten again.
There’s so much more to try– beer, wine, shakes, salads, and the Sack of 5 burgers for just $18– that we’ll just have to schedule another meet-up, or three, very soon!
