We were on our way to an auction preview last weekend, but needed some lunch to keep us going. Not just fuel, of course, but something memorable– a Best Bite!
To conserve what little energy we had left (your sympathetic sigh here), we took the “T” just far enough, so we’d exit around the corner from Bistro du Midi.
The weather was perfect and their open sidewalk portal seemed so inviting, we just strolled right in. A seat at the bar with a view of the Public Garden– let the meal begin.
A taste of Penny’s glass of sparkling rosé and I couldn’t get the “me too” out fast enough. We shared bites of the goat cheese omelette and a dessert that featured incredible sweet corn ice cream, but the star of the meal was the Provencal Lamb Cannelloni.
A lamb ragu with tomato sauce, cradled in a light and delicate cannelloni wrapper is large enough to share, and seems like an autumn natural– especially for lamb-lovers.
Bistro du Midi features an inviting upstairs dining area with bar, but we’re usually drawn to the airy, cafe feel of the street-level bar area.
For us, the relaxed, friendly service combined with a South of France inspired cuisine makes for a Best Bite!
