This photo was taken with my Canon Powershot G10 camera. A couple of people have asked me why I chose it and how I like it. From the questions I've had lately, it sounds like a few readers are ready to buy a new camera for themselves or for a gift.
If you add a camera or photography question in the comment section (or email it to me by clicking on the "email me" button near the top of the right column) I'll answer it on an upcoming Saturday.
I can't say enough good things about this camera. It is larger and much heavier than a typical pocket camera. But, it gives me good control of important settings without going through menus. It shoots in RAW as well as JPG mode and will record a fair video. What's more, I'm able to set a default that keeps the flash off unless I decide to use it. It's perfect for me to carry everywhere and to use as a second camera on photo shoots.
I highly recommend it for anyone who would like to move up a bit from a compact camera or for the professional photographer to carry as a second camera. It's the perfect choice for those occasions when you want to be ready to grab a great shot but don't want to carry a heavy camera or a bag full of equipment.
I still love my Nikon D-200 with it's 18-200 zoom lens but I don't always carry that with me. The Canon G10 is always in my purse, jacket pocket or around my neck.
