This building was designed by Rotch, Tilden and was built for H.M. Sears in 1892. The cornice illustrates a number of classic architectural devices with rows of anthemion, egg-and-dart and dental patterns. It is at 287 Commonwealth Avenue.
You'll often hear long time Back Bay residents refer to this property as the "International Institute." It housed that organization from 1964 until it was converted to six condominiums in 1999.
