Snowy Comm Ave Walk (Photos)

 

I was having second thoughts about a snowy Commonwealth Avenue walk with my furry 10-month-old terrier, but she convinced me that it’d be fun! Poppy explained the basics ...

Find a big pile of snow ...

Eat as much as possible ...

Shake off the excess!

There are always other dogs to see along the way.

And, if you time it right, there are shovelers to clear the way!

Lots of people stay home on a day like this, so we’ll have the place to ourselves.

But, you always have to be on the lookout for scary snow plows!

They’re everywhere!

We’ll enjoy watching people wearing funny hats!

And, when we get tired we can sit and watch the snow pile up.

It has been a few years since we've attended a Lion Dance Celebration in Boston's Chinatown. It's on our schedule for this year. This year's event will be held on Sunday, February 17th, 2013 from 10AM to 5PM.

Yes, Breakwind Farm really is the farm's name and the product they were selling at the Boston Local Food Festival on the Greenway was Fartootemting Baked Beans. I wonder if punster Adam Gaffin from Universal Hub is a consultant for this company?

Happy Garden Gargoyles

Every time I walked by this display last week on the steps of Monty's in Provincetown, I had to smile. I called these "Happy Gargoyles" and thought about the touch of whimsy they would add along a garden path. Since these don't actually act as downspouts, they really should be called "grotesques."

I also kept seeing, in these faces, some features of people I knew– people who laughed a lot and had a twinkle in their eye. Do you see someone you recognize in these faces?
