The design element in yesterday's clue is part of our decaying infrastructure. It's on the Red Line subway entrance on Main Street in Cambridge adjacent to the Longfellow Bridge (map). So, if it should fall or pieces of it were to drop off, it could hit a Red Line train.
It's hard to look at it now and realize how well designed it was and how even little details like these scuppers that drained water from the barrel shaped roof were graceful as well as useful.
Here's one of the corner elements. Lets hope it stays in place long enough to be repaired.Do you have an Amazon Gift Certificate to use? Or do you need to buy one for a gift? Remember to click over to Amazon from here to support this site!
