With a four-day weekend, our 2010 New Year's celebration just kept getting better and better. After writing this post about staying in New Year's Eve to toast the new decade with a really special bottle of sparkling wine, we felt like celebrating.
Call it an eve of "New Year's Eve" celebration - an early evening bite at Craigie on Main starting with a half-bottle of...
Champagne, of course. This one was Pierre Peter's Blanc de Blanc, a grower wine from the Terry Theise Collection. It was the perfect start to a sparkling weekend.
The following day, the real New Year's Eve, we spent the afternoon gathering food for our big night and settled in with our pre-chilled, number one choice- the Delamotte Brut Rose. It was truly wonderful. But, as the bottle reached the halfway point, we both wondered how it would compare with our other finalist.
Soter Brut Rose for comparison sake. Another winner!
Saturday, the beginning of a new year and new decade, meant we were faced with fulfilling our resolution to drink a sparkling wine on the first of every month. No problem. We turned to our second runner-up, Delamonte Brut to toast January.
Can't wait for February 1st.
