The holidays are over. The house guests are gone. So what's on your fun, food and festive calendars?
May we suggest:
Tonight- January 8, 2010
Meat Meet with Stillman's Meat truck in Central Square Cambridge 6 PM. If you've used up your supply of local lamb, pork, sausages and chicken, you may want to click over to Cuisine En Locale for the details. Too late to pre-order, but they usually bring a bit more for drop-in customers.
Wednesday- January 13, 2010
The Garden Club of the Back Bay's January Meeting will feature Chris Kurth of Siena Farms. (The photo above is Chris at the Copley Square Farmers' Market this fall.) Chris will talk about how Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from a farmer and how this grass roots movement has had a profound impact on how we eat. Reservations are a must. Details here.
Thursday, January 14, 2010, 6 pm
At the Boston Public Library 6 PM- "In The Fourth Part Of The World: The Race to the Ends of the Earth, and the Epic Story of the Map That Gave America Its Name, Toby Lester, acclaimed writer and former editor for The Atlantic, tells the improbable story of how the Waldseemüller map forever changed the way we see the world." Details here.
Month long events
The Bostonist site does a great job of organizing opportunities to meet interesting authors and hear about new books. Once each month they publish their "Book it- Book Events." We go through the list and add a few dates to our personal calendars. You can do that for January 2010 here.
