ArtsBoston and Bostix are our Friday links. We're giving you a 2-for-1 deal because the sites are two halves of a wonderful opportunity to enjoy Boston's cultural events. Spend some time at the two sites, and you'll discover rich resources.
You can find information about what's happening in the Boston area in many different ways. If you search by date, you can narrow your results by the type of event you hope to find - theatre, dance, film and more. Or, you can request events in such thoughtful categories as "Free," "Big Fun on a Budget," or "Try Something New."
From the ArtsBoston site, here's what they offer:
"Simply put, ArtsBoston.org is your “one stop shop” for arts and entertainment in Boston. We want you to get out and see a show, visit an exhibit, take out your family or friends…in short, to discover the amazing arts events and performances happening throughout Greater Boston. And if you're a visitor, we know you will find plenty of reasons to stay an extra day or two and see why Boston is such a remarkable place. By providing you with comprehensive information about what to do and where to go for unique cultural experiences, we hope to inspire greater participation in this broad range of events and activities."
Bostix is ArtsBoston's half-price ticket site. You may be more familiar with the booths they have in Copley Square and at Faneuil Hall.
On the Bostix site they take pride in their accomplishments.
"We now serve a constituency of over 165 theatre, music and dance groups in Greater Boston. BosTix, BosTix Advance, and Member Services make the arts accessible to a wide audience while providing our member groups with a cost effective means to help market their programs. Since our inception, we've brought 3.2 million people to the arts and have returned over $42 million to Greater Boston's arts community. "
