This week my Serious Eats "Market Scene" report is about the Provincetown Farmers' Market. Click here to read it.
Once upon a time, you had to pack garlic, wine, olive oil, and herbs if you planned on doing some serious cooking in Provincetown. Today the town has great wine, cheese, and gourmet goods available throughout the year and this wonderful market on Saturdays.Market day is one of the few "appointments" we make when we are visiting "Lands End." My phone has an appointment set for 11 am each Saturday to remind me to walk downtown and stock up on fresh, local food. We send a big thank you to Andy Pollock from Silverbrook Farm for organizing this farmers' market.
On our last visit, the market was humming. At Lucky Field Organics, I caught this staff person taking one of the few deep breaths she had time for all morning. You can see that "What should I do next?" question in her expression.
Isn't humming what beehives do? Well, honey was at the top of my market list. I use local honey as a form of alternative medicine for allergies. In Provincetown, I buy Silverbrook Farm honey. It's from Dartmouth MA and it is delicious. We stocked up on pears, peaches, and nectarines from Noquochoke Orchards. (One of the planned weekend outings on our autumn list is a visit to Noquochoke and their neighbors at Westport Rivers Vineyard and Winery. We've enjoyed their fruit for years but have never visited the orchards.)
The Provincetown Farmers' Market is located right next to town hall, in the municipal parking lot off Ryder Street. It operates Saturdays from 11 AM to 4 PM and will continue until December 5th.

I'm looking for a great honey dispenser. Right now I'm using one of these.
And, the do
work better than most of the ones I've tried. But this one seems to get
high rankings on Amazon. Maybe it's worth a try.
Most of the ones I've tried don't work, leak or make a mess. What's your honey serving solution?
