Lovely, Local, Lark Cookies

We ran into Mary Ann McCormick from Lark Fine Foods at the Whole Foods on River Street in Cambridge. She was there sampling her wonderful sweet and savory cookies. It was hard for us to decide which one was our favorite. I have a feeling we'll rotate through the varieties each time we come across them in a store.

Here's how Mary Ann describes her varieties:

• Cha-Chas - our first cookie; spicy, rich and chocolaty
• Coco Locos – lots of coconut, just  a hint of rum
• Mighty Gingers - a very gingery, soft and chewy cookie
• Polenta Pennies -  a lemony bite-sized corn meal cookie with golden raisins                       
  
• Salted Rosemary Shortbread  - unexpectedly delicious
• Scourtins, a French-style sweet and savory olive wafer

This company is managed by a mother and daughter team. Mary Ann's daughter, Nicole Nordensved is her partner in creating and marketing these treats.
