Since its opening, Craigie on Main has been in our regular rotation of favorite places. On our current staycation/vacation, we're trying to alternate places we love with places we haven't tried yet.
Sunday found us at the bar at Craigie enjoying a perfect brunch. Those are Ed's pancakes in the photo above. Or, to be more specific, "Four Country Style Organic Buttermilk Pancakes with muscovado stewed bananas." He had them the last time we brunched, and I'll bet he'll have them again.
And, that is a beer In the background. The bartender matched it with the pancakes and Ed declared it "perfect" with his meal. It's a local microbrew that was on draft – "Jack D'Or" from the Cambridge based, "Pretty Things Ale and Beer Project."
I've yet to meet a Craigie sausage that I haven't loved so I ordered, "Craigie Dimanche Sausages, Buttermilk Biscuit and Gravy with farm fresh egg." It was full of flavor with a great biscuit. Next time I'll ask for even more gravy.
Mine was a hard decision because the last time we brunched here, I had "Grass-Fed and House-Brined Corned Beef Hash with slow-poached egg, and crispy onion rings." That is the type of dish that can become a habit if you don't make yourself order something else.
The "Gingerbread Pain Perdu" for dessert has reached addiction status. I fear that as long as it remains on the menu, it's the only dessert I'll taste at Craigie.
Craigie Is Closed for the 4th
Now that I've made you hungry, I have to tell you that you must wait a week to try this brunch. Craigie on Main is taking a few days off from July 4th to the 6th.
But, you can make an Open Table reservation and have something to look forward to on the 12th.
This is not uncommon so check before you head out to any restaurant this weekend. Many places take a breather over this holiday week.
