In July, it's always a good idea to call a Boston restaurant before you visit. Some area restaurants take a bit of time off this month.
In the current economy, it can be scary to see a favorite place closed for any reason. You fear it may be one of those vacations that go on and on.
One way to follow what's happening on the restaurant vacation scene is to eavesdrop on two current conversations over at the Boston board of Chowhound.com.
One is about "July vacations for area restaurants" and the other about "Summer 2009 openings and closings."
