Saturday evening we met friends at Trattoria Toscana in the Fenway and began an exploration of Chef Zamir Kociaj's fall menu.
Our meal began with a carafe of the house Chianti and plates of crostini, ribollita, and mushroom risotto. Each bite was lovely.
We followed with pappardelle with wild boar and veggies (the big hit of the night); pasta with pancetta, grilled zucchini, fresh tomato and truffle oil; braised lamb shanks; and chicken with mushrooms and leeks; and a shared dish of roasted potatoes.
Ours was a table of folks who play nice, and share their treasures, so everyone had tastes of each dish.
We topped off the evening with coffee, tiramisu and a wonderful citrus dessert with intense lemon flavor.
On the walk home we decided to return in a couple of weeks to try more of the menu items. Since then we've all been talking about the meal and trying to remember what we want to order next.
