Atlas Farms had a marvelous pumpkin assortment at the Copley Farmer's market today. They also have informative signs to let you know a bit more about their products. And, all their pumpkins are organic when the time comes for you to eat them.
Below "big blue" was a cream-colored, Long Island Cheese heirloom pumpkin. You can see the resemblance to a wheel of cheese but hidden inside is a great pie pumpkin with moderate sweetness and an ability to keep for awhile.
The third member of the trio is a rosy-red, sweet Rouge Vid d' Etampes or Cinderella pumpkin. It too can be cooked after it has added its color and a lovely shape to an autumn display.
In addition to the Copley Square Farmers' market, you can find some of Atlas Farm's outstanding produce at a number of Boston area Whole Food Markets.
