We had a Zipcar for a few hours this afternoon and a full list of errands to run. Our route was planned so that the final stop was at SoulFire in Allston.
The promise of BBQ gave us a carrot at the end of a day of shopping. (Not a favorite pastime around here)
When we finally made it home, we found that sitting and chatting while we enjoyed a mess of ribs and sides is a great way to end a weekend.
Our choices were from throughout the SoulFire menu. We had baby back ribs, spareribs, chili, baked beans, collards, pickles, mac & cheese, beans and rice, cornbread, and a pulled pork sandwich. We have lots of leftovers for tomorrow. (Which is something we usually plan when we order take out.)
We also had a sampler with all four of their sauces– SoulFire special, spicy, North Carolina, and sweet. We tested them all with the North Carolina and SoulFire coming out on the top of our favorite list.
We always order extras of the chili, baked beans and pickles at Soul Fire. We love all the meats and only regret that they no longer sell the burnt ends that were available when they first opened.
We think that SoulFire is often overlooked. Maybe because it is located in what we all think of as a student area. But, with the list of terrific restaurants in Allston expanding daily, perhaps more folks will discover it in the months ahead.
Perennial favorite BBQ places around the area may come to other minds more readily, but we like this one. It's easy to get to on the Greenline. They deliver via Nightowl. And, they put out a very good product at a reasonable price.
Thanks for making supper for us SoulFire!
