Do your berries arrive home from the farmers' market in good condition? Or, do a few manage to escape the green paper box and squish?
This year our berries have been getting here in good shape and we are saving our farmers a bit of cash. I've been putting a plastic container in my market bag for each soft fruit I plan to buy.
I pass my container to the farmer and let them pour my fruit into it. This one contains two pints of blueberries. That makes two paper containers and one bag the farmer didn't have to give to me.
Once home, the container can sit on the counter for immediate nibbles or into the refrigerator for storage.
Those black plastic take-out containers with clear lids work well for this purpose.
